In Their Words

Eton Academy provides students with an educational experience to help prepare them for success -- in college and beyond. No one knows this better than an Eton Academy Alum. Here's what a just a few of our alums have to say about Eton:

Mason Petty, Class of 1998

Q: Tell me what Eton was like for you.

A: Eton was a big change from the schools I was used to going to. It definitely gave me assistance that I wouldn't have had in a public school.

Coming from classes with 30-35 students, for me ... if the pace of the class was too slow, I just wouldn't pay attention. Or if it was too fast, I wouldn't pay attention.

So what Eton was able to do with the smaller class sizes is that it gave me the tempo of learning I needed to be successful.

Q: What are you doing now?

A: I am a student at Wayne State University and I also work in the research laboratory. I'm studying biochemistry and biopsychology.

I am going to medical school next year.

Ryan Marlowe, Class of 2008

Q: What are your thoughts about attending Eton Academy?

A: I don't know what I would have done without Eton Academy.

It saved my school career, and it probably saved my life too. I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't come here.

Q: What are you doing now?

A: I am going to school to become an airframe powerplant mechanic at Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology.

Andrew Ossowski-Blair
Attended Eton Academy 2001 - 2002
Graduated from Birmingham Seaholm High School

Q: Tell me your thoughts about Eton Academy.

A: To me, Eton was one big family, with tons of support. Everyone always made you feel welcome, and never afraid to ask a question. They're the root of what I am now.

Q: What was it like to attend school at Eton?

A: I had thought, in the beginning, it was going to be easy. Lord knows it wasn't. They really challenge you, and make sure you do your work. If I were to take away just one thing from Eton it was the time management and organization. Teachers taught us exactly how to handle the workload. As opposed to being in college, where there's no one checking up on you. So, if they didn't do that at Eton, I probably wouldn't be where I am now.

Q: Where are you now?

A: I had thought about law school, but I love food. So I'm pursuing culinary arts. I want to study all over the world, and then come back and open a restaurant in a 3-story building, with a different cuisine on every floor!

John (J.T.) Waters III, Class of 2008

Q: Tell me about your time at Eton.

A: Really good. I came here after being home schooled. Everybody at Eton was nice. It was fun.

Q: Where are you now?

A: Studying biology at Madonna University.

Q: How did Eton prepare you academically for college?

A: Everything the teachers and faculty helped me with, I needed it to go to college. I just want to thank everyone for helping me!

Anita Kafi, Class of 1995

Q: Tell me what it was like to come to Eton, for you personally.

A: It was a lot of help, the classes were smaller. I learned a lot at Eton. The teachers gave me more attention, compared to those at the bigger schools.

The teachers prepared me for real life and growing up, basically prepared me for life after high school.

Beth McIlwain, Class of 1999

Q: What to you remember most about Eton?

A: I liked the small classes, and the one-on-one with the teachers. They care about you as an individual, and show you different ways of learning.

Q: What are you doing now?

A: I'm working in the billing area at Beaumont Hospital. I'm also married and have a 3-year old son.

Q: What would you tell other families and students who are considering Eton Academy?

A: It's more of a home than a school; they care about you a lot.
