Richard Coleman III

Creating with Passion
2010 Eton Graduate, Richard Coleman III, was the featured alumni speaker at the 2018 graduation commencement ceremony sharing his path, his challenges, and how he harnessed his strategies to take on his dreams in the design world.

"The challenges that brought me to Eton were rooted in processing time. Once I could find strategies to help with that, I could soar. I really started to read and write in 5th grade, and quickly was at a high school reading level and beyond. As I transitioned from Eton to the Art Institute of Chicago, on scholarship, I was able to move through my education earning my BFA in Fashion, with honors."

As Richard moved into the fashion world, he participated in many fashion shows, and landed a position at the costume design house of Halsey Onstage. He has designed for ballet, broadway, TV, film, and more with a highlight of working on Madonna's Rebel Tour.

The skills he learned at Eton also translated to his jobs, rising through the ranks to take on more responsibility. "I dig in, I ask questions, I use those strategies to help me process and really move forward."
