While many High Schools may include some sort of school store in their curriculum, Eton takes it several steps further and works to anchor students in their strengths by helping them use the unique and wonderful ways their minds work to learn about economics, strategy, marketing and advertising.
Upper School students in Economics developed a candle making business this year, researching production costs, break even points, marketing tactics and strategy. They decided to sell candles infused with essential oils, in various sizes and price points.
Lower School students in the Upper El developed their own handmade and artisan products for the Eton Market. Students were tasked with coming up with a product, creating it, setting pricing, marketing and advertising strategies and promotions. At the annual Eton Market, the rest of the Lower School had opportunities to use their Eton Bucks that they earned throughout the year on their fellow students products.
Who knows? Maybe we have the next Richard Branson in our midst!
