Safety & Health is Our Top Priority

Community health and safety is always our top priority when creating and ensuring a healthy and safe learning and work environment. 
  • We believe in making health and safety related decisions based on peer-reviewed research and valid and reliable data.
  • We seek guidance from our local, regional, and national health professionals, departments, and associations to ensure community safety and health.
  • We are prudent and cautious in our approach in ensuring health and safety in our community.
  • We apply the well-known saying , “I’d rather be safe than sorry” in our planning. 

Medically Vulnerable Students, Faculty, and Staff  
  • Eton will work with faculty, staff, and our families on an individual basis to help create the safest possible environment for all community members. 
  • Eton will follow all HIPAA and FERPA policies.

  • Phase I - OnCampus & Home Learning Hybrid Format

    • PPE (facial coverings) always worn by faculty and staff
    • PPE (facial coverings) always worn by students in common areas, traveling to and from classroom.
    • PPE (facial coverings) may be removed for K-5 students in-classroom, must be worn grades 6-12 in-classroom.
    • Handwashing protocols implemented across school with specific frequency.
    • Hand sanitizer stations throughout building, and specific protocols taught and implemented (upon entering building, classroom, etc.)
    • Temperatures checked before entering building.
    • Personal items limited to sharing, frequently sanitized.
    • Clear screens installed at Welcome Center front desk.
    • Parent and visitor meetings will take place virtually or via telephone.
    • As feasible, spreading out desks and chairs in classrooms.
    • Guests and family members are not allowed in the building, unless an extenuating circumstance approved by Head of School.
    • Classroom windows open as much as possible for increased fresh air and ventilation.
    • Coordination with Oakland County Health Department.
    • Students or staff who develop a fever or become ill with COVID-like symptoms will be sent for COVID-19 testing and restricted from returning On-Campus until symptoms resolve and a negative COVID test is procured.
    • Families will be notified per Oakland County Health protocols for any possible exposure to COVID-19, and asked to quarantine for 14 days at home.
    • Eton Academy will report any positive COVID-19 cases to Oakland County Health Department, per the Return to School Roadmap.
    • There will be no in person activities that require close, physical contact such as sports, clubs, aftercare, etc.
    • Parent and visitors meetings will take place virtually or via telephone.
    • The school will follow all required physical distancing, screening, testing, contact tracing, hygiene cleaning of the building, and PPE requirements.
  • PHASE II - 100% On-Campus Learning Format A

    • All listed above, with all students return to on-campus 100% of the time.
    • Some in-person activities that require close, physical contact may resume.
    • The school will continue to follow all required screening, testing, contact tracing, hygiene cleaning of the building, and PPE requirements.
  • PHASE III - 100% On-Campus Learning Format B

    • More in-person activities that require close, physical contact may resume.
    • The school will continue to follow all required screening, testing, contact tracing, hygiene cleaning of the building, and PPE requirements.
  • PHASE IV - 100% On-Campus Learning Format C

    • Additional in-person activities that require close, physical contact may resume.
    • Parents and visitor meetings may take place on-campus.
    • The school will continue to follow all required screening, testing, contact tracing, hygiene cleaning of the building, and PPE requirements.
  • PHASE V - 100% On-Campus Learning Format D

    • All in-person activities that require close, physical contact may resume.
    • The school will continue to follow all required screening, testing, contact tracing, hygiene cleaning of the building, and PPE requirements.
